Leipzig plays a significant role in the field of biotechnology and biomedical sciences. At the area of the Old Leipzig fairground, a congested area has been established. In addition to the Fraunhofer institute for cell therapy and immunology and the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine (TRM) Leipzig, BIO CITY with its biotechnological and biomedical center of the university of Leipzig are also located there.

Close to the BIO CITY, the new building of the Fraunhofer IZI was build. It is going to be  officially inaugurated in June 2008 and it will be the location for the 3rd Fraunhofer Life Science Symposium as it offers a spacious auditory as well as a light-flooded inside courtyard who’s design and atmosphere will accentuate both booth and poster.

An additional advantage is the closeness to the city center, which makes the Fraunhofer institute the perfect location for the 3rd Life Science Symposium.
